Secret Safe Storage for your Home
September 08, 2017
Storing valuables at home has been a part of human behavior for a long time. And while we might think that it gives us a one-up on criminals, the truth is that they know better than ourselves where we might store important things; forget the locked vault behind picture frames or that conveniently placed safe under your papers in your desk: thieves already know those locations. It’s time to get creative and give them a run for their money, giving authorities time to reach your home and caught them red-handed. That’s why I will give you some inventive secret storage locations to guard your valuables.
- Under the kitchen sink: Most of us don’t actually like that area, and it’s the least probable place where you’ll hide important things, that’s why it’s so brilliant. Storage things conveniently placed where it’s both hard to reach and hard to spot and there’s little chance for criminals to get them.
- On high shelves in your bathroom: These are areas that are used for short periods of times, and thieves would have never guess that you hid something valuable all the way up there.
- In a box in your pantry: The more battered and worn out, the better. You can put a locked vault inside them and chances are that this unsuspecting box will not get a second glance from thieves even if it holds a great deal of important things.
- On lower shelves of bookcases: Some decorative elements are great to hide things, and while you can go for the old school options (fake book backs, that is) you can get creative with decoration or things that one wouldn’t normally think valuable, like old movies.
- Behind flatscreens: These appliances are always thought to be mounted right into the wall, but with the right additives, you can install a system that allows you to move it to reach a safe installed behind them.
- Floating shelves: Floating shelves are often very thick to support the weight that you can place into them, and this also allows them to be better alternatives to hide objects. With the help of a crafty person, you can do them yourself.
- Hollow books: While these fall into the more traditional area, they are great to hide money and other small valuables. Just be sure to not make it all that obvious.
